Nicknamed Satchmo jazz trumpeter and singer Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans, LA. He learned to play the cornet in a waifs home and in 1922 joined King Oliver's Band in Chicago. Every Jazz musician emulated the Armstrong melodic style and rhythmic sense. Popular songs included When it's sleepy time down South, Mack the Knife, Hello Dolly and he featured in the films Pennies from Heaven (1936), Cabin in the Sky (1943), and High Society (1956) Unfortunately we can no longer source pictures
