TINTIN by HERHE

Tintin was written by Herge - alias Georges Remi, the supreme master of the cartoon format.
Born in Brussels in 1907 he joined the daily Le XXe Siecle immediately after completing his secondary studies.
His career in publishing was interrupted by military service and war service but on January 10 1929 Tintin first appeared in Le Petit Vingtieme. Other cartoon series appeared, and also book illustrations, magazine covers, drawings and a large amount of advertising work under the Atelier Herge stamp. Tintin sells 200 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 50 languages.

Tintin's Chinese adventure was inspired by Herge's meeting with Chang Chong Chen on whom the missing character in 1958's TINTIN in Tibet is based. This story of Japan's occupation of northern China and its withdrawal from the League of Nations was so close to the truth that the imperial government threatened to sever diplomatic relations with Belgium.
